Naturally healthy soils is key for brilliant crops with less pests and disease. In her Friday talk, Kath will explain her simple soil care regime using greencrops, chop and drop and a little homemade compost.
You’ll learn how to transform your soil, then how to care for it and give it just what it needs, which isn’t as much as you might think. Less is more! Overfed soils are one of the main drivers of pest and disease.
How To Prune Fruit Trees

Saturday’s workshop covers the pruning essentials for deciduous and evergreen fruit trees.
You will learn the different types of pruning cuts, the best time to prune and train, and how to keep trees productive and compact.
Kath teaches food gardening to Kiwi gardeners through blogs, articles and books (Edible Backyard and Pruning Fruit Trees – A Beginner’s Guide) and we’re incredibly excited she’s giving two wonderful presentations this year.
