Naturalistic planting design – which mirrors wild or natural habitats – is becoming a popular concept in modern gardens, offering a relaxed and layered approach to planting.

In this hands-on workshop, Richard and Rachel will demonstrate how to propagate plants and show you how to build your own natural garden combining perennials, bulbs and grasses to create dynamic planting schemes. Participants will leave with a milk bottle seed propagator, a few cuttings and a divided perennial or grass.

Rachel’s love of flowers has evolved from a backyard cutting garden and flourishing cut flower business into ownership of Gray Floral Nursery & Garden Centre. She is passionate about growing and sharing special plants, seasonal blooms and hard-to-find seedlings with gardeners throughout Marlborough and beyond.

Joining Rachel is Richard Hayden, Senior Director of Horticulture at the High Line in New York, where he leads the care of one of the world's most celebrated naturalistic public gardens. Known for his ecological approach to garden design, Richard brings extensive international experience in creating beautiful, biodiverse landscapes inspired by nature.

Together, they offer an inspiring and accessible introduction to both the art and practice of building naturalistic gardens from the ground up.
