Curious about the world of wild food and how to safely explore it? Join one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading foraging experts, Peter Langlands, for two inspiring workshops that will open your eyes to the abundance around us.

A professional forager based in Ōtautahi Christchurch, Peter has spent decades documenting wild foods and now works as an educator and consultant for some of the country’s top restaurants. Passionate about discovery, flavour and food resilience, he brings a practical and thoughtful approach to reconnecting people with the land and sea.

Guided Foraging Walk

Friday 6 November 8.30am – 12.30pm

Step into the landscape on Friday morning and explore Marlborough through a different lens. Guided by Peter, this walk takes in a range of environments, from coastal and river edges to native bush and farmland boundaries, where some of the richest foraging opportunities exist.

You’ll learn practical identification skills, including how to use your smartphone as a tool in the field, and gain confidence recognising a wide variety of plants and fungi. Along the way, Peter will share the ethics of responsible foraging, how to assess environmental safety, and simple ways to use wild foods in the kitchen. For those feeling adventurous, there will be opportunities to taste as you go.

This immersive experience offers not only a fascinating introduction to foraging, but also a deeper understanding of ecology and biodiversity – skills that will stay with you long after the walk.

Transport and morning tea are included for the foraging walk. A good level of mobility is required.
