Jamie Durie
Australian-born Jamie Durie is one of the most internationally respected and recognised names in garden design and home improvement.
With over 30 years of practice, award-winning designer and horticulturalist Durie and his multidisciplinary team consult on landscapes, interiors, architecture and furniture design. Together they pursue innovative, inspiring and sustainable design solutions for outdoor living spaces where people can relax, regenerate and entertain in style.
Author of over 12 garden design books, Durie has been a television presenter for over 50 television shows worldwide and received a Gold Medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in London. He is a committed environmentalist working with numerous international organisations dedicated to conservation.
With an impressive portfolio of clients, Durie is adept at working on a range of projects of all scales, from Australia to the USA, UK, Spain, Canada, New Zealand and Asia. He has designed collections for McGuire, Pottery Barn, Kohl’s and bespoke items for celebrities such as Charlize Theron and Oprah Winfrey.

In his keynote, Durie will discuss his theories on future-proofing our gardens as we move forward into new climates and expanding horizons. Targeting gardens that are built for the majestic Pacific Rim area and its rich soils, Durie will share his immense knowledge and experience in a fascinating presentation.
Durie and his team at Durie Design have designed and worked on hotels and gardens in over 17 countries. Join him as he walks us through some of his most pivotal projects and challenging situations. “If I can build lush gardens in the desert of Dubai, I can build gardens anywhere” says Durie of the 340-villa private residential retreat with 17 different themed gardens. He will present his water-harvesting techniques and his theories around working in depleted soils.
Durie will share some personal notes on his career path. His career change to landscape design occurred in his late 20s with newspapers quoting his new direction as going from “hot pants to pot plants” (best said with an Australian accent).
