This year, we’re excited to introduce Altimarloch to Garden Marlborough, with its unique arboretum; and the iconic Barewood returns to our programme under new ownership.

Overlooking the Awatere River, Altimarloch is a charming property that is evolving into an expansive arboretum. Established in 1856, it features a rambling country garden with original trees, a meandering creek and a tranquil lake. Under Alastair and Jessica Midgley’s care, hundreds of trees and a vibrant rhododendron terrace have been planted to enhance the garden’s beauty and diversity.

Created by original Winterhome owners Sue and Richard Macfarlane, it’s the perfect place to meander along the oceanfront and enjoy delicious cuisine.
