Heeni’s knowledge pertaining to Maramataka Māori and its practical application in work and life is unrivalled. She shares this with individuals and organisations, teaching them how to maximise potential and increase productivity by planning, planting and living in alignment with the Maramataka Māori lunar cycle.
Heeni is an eco, off-grid, rammed-earth community-housing designer and developer, an organic gardener and an International Slow Food representative. She is also an environmental and Māori rights activist, working at transforming tikanga (Māori customs) and ancient Māori knowledge into modern-day form. She was involved in the research and development of Hua Parakore, the Māori organic standard .
Heeni says, “As a survivor of stage 4 endometrial cancer, I drew on the greatest gift handed down from my ancestors: the taonga of maramatanga, understanding! Kia puta ki te ao Marama!”
